10 CLOSURE QUESTIONS
Many interviewers don’t know how to begin an interview and others don’t know how to end it. Before finishing, ask yourself if you know all the necessary things about the profile. When the registration forms are used, these can be helpful so you won’t forget any important details. Some closure formulas are to announce the next step (“We will evaluate this information and then we will call you”, etc.) or asking the interviewee if they have any doubt (the next chapter is about the questions the postulant usually asks).
In any case, the interviewer should create a closure climate, give the sensation that all the important points are covered and that the task has been successfully fulfilled, indicate how the process continues, check on the postulants availability for future interviews and verify the contact information.
When the available time is over or when you already have all the information you may consider necessary in order to make a decision, the interview should finish.
The following questions can be used to finish an interview.
1. Is there anything else I should know about you?
2. What conclusions have you got from the information provided?
3. Based on what we have talked, are you interested in the position?
4. In your opinion, what would be the main reason to choose you?
5. Up to now we have talked a lot about you; do you have any question for me?
6. We have interviewed a lot of candidates, is there any aspect that would convince me that you are the person we should hire?
7. How do you think you did in the interview?
8. When could you start working?
9. Can I contact your current employer to ask them for references?
10. How did you feel during the interview?
